Cultural? Personally, I've never seen the need for a washcloth. Plus they irritate my skin. I guess most people use them though.

Yeah, it seems that black people and the deep South are where this wash cloth use is coming from.  My black friends and my family (but only those raised in the deep South, skewing older) used wash cloths.

I never use a wash cloth, and for some reason, they kinda gross me out.  But I hear the same for the other side that accuses me of using a raw bar on soap directly on my asshole and then on someone else's face.

^^^ Everyone knows that you don't use bar soap on your butthole...that's what brillo pads and pressure washers are for...

I don't use a washcloth either...haven't actually owned a single washcloth since I left for the military in 1982.

I used washcloths when I was younger, or occasionally when one is available.  I use a luffa most of the time though.

(bonus points if you can name the incredible sports movie that line is from)

I knew that most black people used washcloths. Wasn't aware of the deep south part though. The concerning thing is that some people reuse the same washcloth. That's fucking nasty.

I usually just soap my hands up and proceed to wash my body with the lather and then wash the ahole last. Then wash my hands off good. But then again, I don't use bar soap, I use body wash. So once I squirt it in my hand, I don't really touch anything else in the shower that would be shared.

I was taught to use a washcloth growing up, but I stopped as an adult.  I have a loofah, but I don't use it all the time.

I don't understand why people get so worked up about a bar of soap being tainted (ahem).  Soap is self-cleaning.

Not to derail the topic, but must one be an evil genius to fold a fitted sheet?
This is the method I use:

Not judging, but I'm a little bit troubled by the number of dudes in here who use a loofah.  Good old fashioned washcloth.  Preferably a rough one to clean out those pores.  Wash the junk next to last and the undercarriage last.  A new washcloth for each shower.

I use a loofah, nothing wrong with that .. proper skin care is important.

I rarely, if ever, wash my blankets and comforters.  But if you don't have a top sheet, then I suppose that every time you change your (fitted) sheet, you also wash your blankets?
Comforter, yes. We don't use blankets on the bed and even if we did it would be on top of the comforter so it's not getting soiled. For the record we use a top sheet as well but my wife still washes the comforter every time she washes the sheets.

Loofahs are both more effective (better suds faster) and lower maintenance (just rinse it out) than a washcloth.

Yes, you have to use a Top Sheet, otherwise you would need to wash the blankets/Comforters/Duvets all the time.

You are probably right, but I'm just old and stuck in my ways and averse to change.  lol  "Get off my lawn!"

My wife and I have a top sheet and a comforter but we rarely use the comforter because most nights in South Florida are hot.

Good old fashioned washcloth.

Are you or your family from the deep South?
