Will the party of chaos be able to decided on their new leader in more or less votes than it took for the first one?

I have a feeling they'll get it done faster, to avoid the embarrassment.

I really have no idea how this will work, though.  I have no clue if they'll go further to the center or further to the right.

It will be a cold day in hell before the republicans move towards the center again.

At least most of the Republicans try and stand up to the crazy 8 of their party. Democrats have adopted their crazies like Bernie Sanders, AOC, and the rest of the squad as the norm.

They should, both AOC and Bernie are fairly mainstream in their policy positions

Yeah, I'm fully on board with the AOCs and the Bernies and would much prefer we adopt those positions that the business war dems.

Reports are that they are nominating Trump for speaker.  It will be a million votes.

I didn't think you could have a speaker of the house that wasn't actually a member of the house...

Trump isn't eligible, per their own rules, because he's under indictment with a possible penalty of over two years.  I don't know if they can change their own rule, but it's currently in place.

Yes, you can be speaker and not be in the house, but it's just not done.

He wouldn't get the votes anway.

If he did, he wouldn't accept.

This is just performative parlor tricks by the far right trolls in the caucus.

I don't expect the party as a whole to move to the center, but if the government goes unfunded long enough, there's a (remote) possibility that 5 rogue Republicans, in an effort to keep their seats in vulnerable districts, will side with the Dems to choose someone.

Maybe I missed but when did AOC, or Bernie: call to vacate a democrat from speakership?  hold up military promotions to protest DOD policy, shut down the government while controlled all three branches. refuse ti vote on SCt judges for almost a year?  attempt to overthrow the election?  call for the murder of fellow congressmen?

The GOP is bankrupt of ideas.  There is nothing crazy about Bernie Sanders or AOC.  They are just progressives, like me.  Am I crazy?  Progressive policy isn't crazy.  Neither is conservative policy.  It's not the conservative ideology of Matt Gaetz, Jim Jordan, etc. that make them dangerous.

I get that you guys are way left and think they are normal but 10 years or so ago they would be considered as extreme to the mainstream Democrats as Matt Gaetz is to the GOP. I get that Hoodie and Spider don't think that I actually know anyone but I do actually know people who used to follow Bernie that now think the Democrats are nuts and have moved to Independent.

The Center for Politics noted based on information from American National Election Studies surveys  ... findings indicate that from 2012 to 2020, there was a dramatic increase in liberalism among Democratic voters. This leftward shift has been somewhat greater among white Democrats than among nonwhite Democrats. However, both white and nonwhite Democrats moved to the left over that timespan.

I would say that has been my experience but I'm guessing it started sooner as I switched parties in 2008 for similar reasons. This is also why conservative Democrats like JFK rarely exist. It was Reagan who said “I didn’t leave the Democratic Party. The party left me.” but that applies to many of us as the party took a serious left turn.

Liberalism isn't crazy.  It's a different philosophy.  These aren't crazy people devoid of intelligence and incapable of governance.

The US is getting more liberal and that's how progress works.  So, the party will reflect that.

Yes, he did say that.  And the reason why the Democratic Party "left him" was because the Democratic Party supported the Civil Rights Act of 1964, he and many other racist democrats became Republicans.
