I saw that "dumped" term above, Lil_B, and thought you were referring to Morgan Ensberg. I dammed near killed myself trying to get to the waiver wire. ;-)

I have a full roster of healthy, happy and productive offensive players, my velvety hillbilly friend...let me know if any of them appeal to you for a possible trade.

You're tooooo fast, Lil_B!  I was just coming up here to post it...and to tell Joe "Good trading with ya."

I gave up a good bit of talent there, but feel I've upgraded my 1B slot with Ryan Howard and my C slot with Victor Martinez.

I usually preach against having three players from the same squad (Which I had already with Dunn-Lopez-Freel), but somehow Abreu-Utley-Howard doesn't bother me too much.  I just want to see the fightin' Phillies score 8-10 runs per night. Cleveland too, since I'll have a trio of Tribesmen in there most of the time (Hafner-Martinez-Blake)  Grin

Hopefully my revamped pitching staff will be able to match my offensive production at some point.

As an afterthought...one more added perk to this trade: Since I dropped Shawn Green and traded one more than I received, it opened up two roster slots, so I could re-sign Adrian Beltre and sign my favorite young rookie, Josh Barfield (triples-steals-runs-singles monster). to go with my "other" favorite rookie infielder, Hanley Ramirez. Hopefully Barfield or Beltre will help make up for losing Freel's steals.

GO PADRES!!

I'd like to congratulate my first round draft pick, Johan Santana, for "finally" getting his first win. Eight innings though, Johan, couldn't you go one more to get me the complete game point? At the salary we're payin' you, maybe you might consider giving a little extra effort toward the cause...  Roll Eyes

Good luck next week AZ....

AZ will need more than luck this next week, he's going to need asbestos fruit of the looms to avoid getting his nuts roasted by the Wild Friars

PS...sorry about my Padres rough treatment of your Cubbies this weekend. Wink

Yeah I was sweating bullets that I might be handed my first loss as my pitching was atrocious this week and I now have Shef going on the D/L and Fielder might be right behind him.

Good luck to you as well Stroke, this may be the week my luck runs out!!!!!  Grin

AZ brought out the industrial strength lumber last night...5 of his players went yard. So, I get to battle back from behind this week. No worries...this is a squad that can put up stats at an alarming rate when they get into that groove.

Still...AZ isn't the team that I'd want to "have to" work from behind against. Too much power on offense...kind of like my own squad.

AZ ... Good battle this past week. You knew that someone had to luck out a win against ya at some point this season...glad it could be me. If someone had told me that I would be getting almost zero production from Bobby Abreu against you, I'd have told them I have no chance of winning. Was happy to see the rest of my squad pick up Abreu's slack.

Pats2006 ... You get your first taste of Padres hospitality next week. Enjoy your time on top of the standings, because all you are doing is keeping our rightful place nice and warm for us.

Lil_B ... For the second straight weekend, my apologize for San Diego's rough treatment of the Cubbies. The bright side...you don't have to face San Diego again this season.

~~~
Who's Your Padre? is extremely pleased to welcome the newest member of our pitching staff, Cole Hamels, who was brought up from fantasy AAA league this week and will slide into the #4 spot in our rotation behind Santana, Hudson and Escobar.
...edited because I just saw the trade go through...
Atlanta, it was good trading with ya. I think I once again overpaid a little bit to get two players I really like (Bay and Nathan), but I think I have the depth to make it work...especially with Hamels coming aboard. It makes Hudson a little more expendable.
Sauce me up and put me on the spit... Alk3hol opened up the industrial sized can of whoop-ass on me in day one of our matchup. I only had 6 hitters with games, but three of those (Hafner, Victor and Casey) had their game cancelled by rain. Alk3hol's fellas saw the opening and pounced with both feet... Seven players active, and they ALL went off... 14 of 29, 12 singles a triple and a dinger. 9 runs and 7 RBIs on a short schedule day. Turn that spit, I'm a'gettin' cooked!
We Padres have our work cut out for us in this one...no bout a doubt it.  I do like this offense's ability to pump stats in a hurry though, so I think we can turn things around. I just need Pronk to be healthy and mother nature to keep her wet self out of my affairs. Wink
